Search engine rankings a mystery? KPMRS helps you track them..

by

So there I was looking around the web for a way to track where we sat in the site ranking lists, something that isn’t all that easy if you are not a webbie and came across this lovely, easy to use site. http://kpmrs.com

KRMRS is an acronym for Keyword Positioning Monitoring Positioning Reporting Service. It is a new free search engine that lets you compare your rankings for selected keyword phrases on the major search engines. You are able to enter the terms that you believe direct people to your site which in term helps you refine them to draw more visitors.

One neat feature that is coming in the next few days is the ability to display your ranking details on your Facebook page if you so please. Something a lot of people will use. But maybe more useful to all you Iphone junkies out there is the app the is waiting Apple approval.

Email alerts? no problem the site will send out an alert to you informing you of any changes to your rankings.

If you subscribe KPMRS will give you several options for each site:

  • Keyword analysis
(search engine rankings for your selected queries)
  • Page Rank
(the Google page rank indicator for the home page of your site)
  • Alexa ranking
(data from the users of the Alexa toolbar, although this one didn’t seem to work when we tested it)
  • Track back link
(gives the number of pages linking back to your site. We are not sure where they get this number. The figure for pandia.com was very low, even lower than the one reported by Google. Google only reports a fraction of back-links. Yahoo gives a much more correct figure.)
  • Social activity
(probably a measure of visibility in social web sites. This function is under construction)

KPMRS

Some additions I would like to see because I’m not a webbie at all, is some rollovers to tell me what the rankings actually mean in real terms, also maybe a chart that tracks my rankings, another suggestion would be to be able to link to your Linkedin Company profile or user profile.

In conclusion, it’s simple, it’s fast and it’s free, so it can’t be bad……
